Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day Ceremony — Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future

Join the RCAF Foundation each year on November 11 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Mausoleum and the William G. Barker VC Monument for a moving ceremony that bridges generations of service and remembrance.

We invite you to take a moment to reflect on what remembrance means today — and what it can mean for the future. As memories pass from one generation to the next, it is through new voices and creative expressions that these stories live on. Together, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and service that continue to guide and inspire Canada.

Experience a morning of reflection featuring readings, wreath laying, a two-minute silence, and a fly-past by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft. Students will share poems and letters to Canada’s military, honouring the legacy of service in their own words.

The ceremony includes remarks from RCAF Leadership TeamMount Pleasant Cemetery,  alongside members of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets16 Wing RCAF, and performances by a Toronto Scottish Piper, a Queen’s Own Rifles bugler and a 48th Highlander Drummer.

All are welcome to attend and take part in this meaningful morning of remembrance and renewal.

Remembrance Day Sunset Ceremony — Closing the Day of Remembrance

Join the RCAF Foundation at sunset each November 11 at the William G. Barker VC Monument (Mount Pleasant Cemetery Mausoleum, Carfrae Chapel) for a closing ceremony marking the end of Canada’s Day of Remembrance.

As daylight fades, this gathering offers one final moment to pause, reflect, and honour those who have served. Representatives of the Royal Canadian Air Force — including a senior officer and RCAF Honorary Colonel — will share words on the meaning of remembrance at day’s end.

Community members will assist in the lowering of the RCAF flag, followed by a shared reading of a poem symbolizing remembrance and gratitude.
