Women in Aviation Wall of Fame:
Margaret Dunseith
Margaret Dunseith played an important role in the history of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and was a pioneer for Canadian women in aviation. Margaret started her career in aviation during World War II, and became the first female air traffic controller in the country in 1952, working at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport until 1980 and paving the way for women in the aviation industry. Considered by many at the time to have been the most widely recognized voice by pilots in Canada, the current control tower at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, built in 1989, was named in Margaret’s honour.
