The RCAF Foundation Student Scholarship is designed to support and inspire Canada’s next generation of aviation and aerospace leaders.
These scholarships support post-secondary students pursuing studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) who are working toward careers in aviation or aerospace.
Since 2021, the RCAF Foundation has awarded over 500 scholarships. Helping to launch the next generation of industry leaders.
As demand for skilled talent continues to grow across both the private and defence sectors, this program helps open doors for students to explore, pursue, and succeed in these dynamic fields.
This program champions youth engagement and industry collaboration to help shape future leaders in aviation and aerospace.

To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be 25 years of age or younger as of September 1, 2026
- Be currently enrolled in, or accepted to, a program at an accredited Canadian college or university
- Have a valid SIN number
More than 100 scholarships, each valued at $1,000, will be awarded.
In addition:
- One (1) Chris Allan RCAF Foundation Scholarship – $2,500
- Six (6) IMP Aerospace RCAF Foundation Scholarships – $1,500 each
The Chris Allan RCAF Foundation Scholarship is awarded in partnership with the Chris Allan Legacy Fund. Chris Allan served as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force, flying the CF-18 Hornet. He tragically lost his life at the age of 31. This scholarship honours his legacy by supporting future leaders in aviation.

In the essay or video, students must answer both of the following:
– Tell us about yourself and why you are inspired to pursue a career in aviation and/or aerospace.
– How will your career path and goals make a meaningful contribution to your chosen field or to your community?
Format must be either:
– Essay of a maximum of 750 words
– Video clip of at least 2 minutes but no more than 5 minutes.
Please answer both questions within one essay or video.
Please name your essay using the following format if possible: LastName_FirstName.pdf.
In addition to the essay or video, we ask that you also upload:
– A recent headshot photograph of yourself we can use if you are selected as a scholarship recipient.
– Proof of enrollment at or acceptance to a college or university. Please see the Rules and Regulations for some examples of what could be used as a proof of enrollment.
The RCAF Foundation (“the Foundation”) reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, amend or cancel its Student Scholarship (the “Scholarship”) at any time without notice. The Foundation shall have full discretion to decide all questions regarding the awarding of scholarships and the administration of the terms and conditions of the Scholarship.
Applicants shall have no claim against the Foundation on the basis of the failure to award a scholarship or the Foundation’s evaluation of applications.
The following persons are NOT eligible to receive a scholarship: Scholarship applicants (“Applicants”) who provide false information to the Foundation at any time, or who have received a scholarship in 2025 from the Foundation.
To be eligible for a scholarship, Applicants must: a) be enrolled at or accepted to an accredited university or college in Canada, b) live in Canada, and c) have a valid SIN number.
The Recipient is responsible for securing admission to a School of their choice in accordance with the school’s requirements and deadlines.
The Foundation’s Scholarship will have a value of no more than CAN $1,000, $1,500 or $2,500, depending on the scholarship received.
A Recipient must: a) attend a School on a full-time or part-time basis (as defined by the school); b) be enrolled in a course of study leading to a certificate, diploma or degree (college, undergraduate, master’s, PhD) in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics with plans to pursue a career in Aviation and/or Aerospace; and c) attend all courses on a regular basis.
All recipients must upload proof of enrollment or acceptance at an accredited educational institution. This proof could be:
- A scanned copy or photo of your student identification card
- A letter from your school’s student affairs or admissions office stating that you are or will be enrolled as a student for a time period that includes September 2026.
- An acceptance offer letter for admission to the school for September 2026.
- A school transcript or course list that you have taken or have enrolled in.
All Recipients are responsible for informing themselves of the tax consequences of receiving the scholarship. Applicants must provide a SIN at the time of application and will receive a T4A following receipt of the scholarship. (Required for tax purposes. This information will be kept confidential and securely stored.)
Entrants must be 25 years or younger as of September 1, 2026.
Limit of one (1) entry per person. In the case of multiple entries, only the first eligible entry will be considered and the remainder will be void.
All entries, including the essay and video submitted in connection with the Scholarship, become the sole property of the Foundation and will not be returned for any reason. Entries must be received prior to the indicated entry deadline. The Foundation reserves the right to exclude any essay or video on the basis of concerns relating to the rights of third parties, including but not limited to privacy, copyright, defamation, rights of personality, obscenity or hate speech, as determined by the Foundation in their sole discretion.
Each entrant agrees that the Foundation may post the video or the essay, in whole or part, on the Foundation website, viewing galleries and/or social media platforms.
Applicants will be asked to upload a photo of themselves. In the case that they are selected as a Recipient, each applicant agrees that the Foundation may use this photo on the Foundation website, viewing galleries, social media platforms or printed materials in support of the Foundation.
Following the end of the applicable period, the Foundation will select 90 entrants.
Recipients will be contacted by the Foundation with instructions on how to claim the Scholarship. Scholarships must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred, assigned, substituted or redeemed for cash.
The Foundation shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to the Foundation for the purpose of the Scholarship must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading. The Foundation reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant should such an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information.
Your personal information will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned or otherwise disclosed. Any information you give us will be treated with the utmost care and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to.

If I have already received a scholarship from the RCAF Foundation, am I able to reapply the following year?
You are ineligible for a scholarship if you received an RCAF Foundation scholarship in the year immediately prior. Ex. 2025 recipients are not eligible to apply in 2026, but any recipients from 2021-24 are eligible.
Can I apply for a scholarship if I don’t have a Social Insurance Number?
No. We require that you provide us with a social insurance number at the time of application. Please note that you will be issued a T4A after you have received your scholarship.
What type of files should I upload?
For the essay / video, please use one of the following file types: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PAGES / MOV, MP4, WMV, AVI. Photos and proof of enrollment may be an image or pdf. All files, including video, must be smaller than 500MB. If you have any issues uploading your files please send a message to us at [email protected].
Will you notify me when my online application has been received?
You will receive an email confirming that the application has been submitted. The application will then be reviewed and you will be notified if we require any further information.
How and when will I be notified if I receive a scholarship?
Scholarships will be announced on June 17. You will receive an email from the RCAF Foundation with the status of your application. If you have not received an email, please check your spam folder.
